Westlaw New Zealand Tip - Searching Tables of Contents (TOC)
Last Published: September 05, 2023
Searching Tables of Contents (TOC) is particularly helpful in publications where the TOC can be lengthy and/or complex.
For instance, somebody might be looking for a term such as “seabird scaring” within Fisheries Law, but they only really want to find the relevant notice or regulation, not every instance of that term.
- Open the commentary publication eg., Fisheries Law
- Enter your terms into the “Search TOC” field. e.g., "seabird scaring". Click Search.

- Results where the terms appears in the title of the Table of Contents will be displayed, highlighted in green.
- Click on the forward and back arrows to navigate to each result.
